JOSÉ PORTILLO
LEAD PASTOR & CHURCH PLANTER
José Portillo graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary Charlotte with a Master of Divinity. He has served as the Campus Administrator and Director of Hispanic Engagement for RTS in Houston, Texas, where he spent nearly 18 years of his life. José was born in Costa Rica and lived all over Central America as his dad preached, encouraged pastors, and planted churches.

He is excited to be part of Vive Charlotte as ministry is done by the power of Jesus Christ to reach the diversity of the local community through the gospel of Christ, seeking to build strong relationships with all the people, and learning to have dialogues of how the gospel is and can become the solution to the issues in our midst. Vive Charlotte strives to bring the transforming power of the gospel to this diverse community. José is married to Anna, and they have four wonderful children together.

Joe has joined our team as our Resident Pastor, training to learn his calling during his seminary studies.
Emily serves as a is part of our worship team, leading us each week to sing God’s word in song.

Kyshia is our community ambassador helping build bridges of care, encouragement, counseling and support for all of our neighbors.
