"BECAUSE HE LIVES, WE LIVE & CALL EAST CHARLOTTE TO LIFE."
THE GOSPEL + OUR NAME
As a church plant in this particular area pursuing the diversity of the community, we wanted to be intentional with the name of our church. By choosing the word “Vive,” a Spanish word that means “He lives,” we do not desire to exclude people, but rather to invite everyone to a community that desires to live this word out and reflect the meaning of “He lives” to all.
“Vive” also expresses a command to live, and so it becomes a motivation for us to live our church name. Thus, “Vive Charlotte” is the declaration of what we desire to be: those who proclaim His life; those who invite others to be transformed by His life; and those who seek to live and work to bring that message of life to our city.
MEET OUR PASTOR
José Portillo graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary Charlotte with a Master of Divinity. He has served as the Campus Administrator and Director of Hispanic Engagement for RTS in Houston, Texas, where he spent nearly 18 years of his life. José was born in Costa Rica and lived all over Central America as his dad preached, encouraged pastors, and planted churches.
VIVE + EAST CHARLOTTE
FAMILY
COMMUNITY
DIVERSITY
Vive Charlotte Church is a small community church desiring to create roots in the middle of East Charlotte. We are not only interested in becoming permanent residents within our community, but we desire to become true neighbors to all those around us, seeking to help our neighbors, their families, their friends, and the community as a whole to flourish. The good news of the gospel compels us to go to all the margins of our neighborhood and bring renewal – not only to our spiritual lives, but to our relationships, and the rhythms of our community.
Come and worship with us as we learn how to become a new church actively connected to our Eastland community. Join us for fellowship and coffee before each gathering.
